R.E.W.I.R.E.

Creating a fulfilling retirement requires action and having the ability to REWIRE how we think is critical to finding fulfillment.

The traditional definition of the word “rewire” centers around taking something that is broken or damaged and replacing it, like rewiring old electrical fixtures in a newly renovated home.

Rewiring your retirement is similar because it takes an old idea of retirement and replaces it with something better.

My entire business is built around the idea of rewiring one’s expectations of what a fulfilling retirement looks like. I believe that retirement success directly correlates with our ability to uncover our underlying motivations and then use those findings as a framework for creating a retirement lifestyle that we love.

I’ve created the acronym R.E.W.I.R.E below as a guide for the mind shift needed to plan your rewirement.

R - Reinvent Yourself - This might sound a bit scary, but retirement is a great opportunity to tap into new experiences and opportunities that you may have placed on hold.

E - Expand Your Horizons - Retirement shouldn’t look the same for everyone. When we move beyond the walls of our own perceived limitations, a new world of possibilities opens up. Make a list of options, no matter how ridiculous, and challenge yourself to take them seriously.

W - Weigh Your Options - Take a heart approach to what could be possible for your new “rewirement” life. Change isn’t easy, so do your research. Fully grasp what this new pursuit will mean for you and those you love.

I - Initiate - Test the water of your ideas. What is that thing that you want to do most? Considering your time, desire, and resources, can the idea be turned into a second career or integrated into your current lifestyle?

R - Realign - Once you’ve chosen your new path, take the time to realign your old way of doing things with the new.

E - Expect - Expectation is a powerful emotion. Use it to fuel your outlook on your new retirement life and all of the opportunities for purpose and fulfillment that it will bring.

Just like career planning or any other big life event, creating a rewirement lifestyle depends on our active participation in the process. We tend to focus more on the money side of the equation when, in fact, it only makes up a very small portion of the overall picture. Sure, we want to have enough money to create a lifestyle that we’ll enjoy, but if what that looks like is not fully defined, then your money’s potential will be lost.

Remember, you already have everything that you need to design a life plan that will work on your terms. Your unique vision, expertise, and life experiences make you uniquely qualified to build it. My job is to help you do the excavation work necessary to build a solid rewirement foundation.

I have a number of tools like SuccessFinder to help you navigate the unchartered territory ahead. When you’re ready to dive into your rewirement possibilities, let’s chat about your next steps.
